La Boca - The Barrio

La Boca is one of the neighborhood, or barrio of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.La Boca is the oldest, most colorful in Buenos Aires. The neighborhood was settled and built by Italian immigrants that worked in the warehouses and meatpacking plants in the area. La Boca is partly an artist colony, and mostly a working-class neighborhood.La boca, a notoriously  barrio that has become a popular tourist attraction during the day, completewith tango dancers, street entertainers and artists

Another look into the soul of La Boca is found a few short blocks north of the Vuelta de Rocha at the Boca Juniors Stadium. This is also known as La Bombonera – the Chocolate Box – because of its shape. An entrance mural painted by Quinquela Martin depicts the story of how Boca adopted its blue and yellow colors.
The old Puente Transbordador in La Boca is a famous witness of Argentina's industrial revolution. As a matter of fact it is one of Buenos Aires' best known landmarks and the symbol of La Boca. The bridge was planned as a transporter bridge to link the city of Buenos Aires with the Isla Maciel of the Ciudad de Avellaneda in the province of Buenos Aires. it was completed in 1914. The bridge was in use until 1960 and may be preserved as a historical monument in the future. The transporter bridge was the first link to connect Buenos Aires with the outskirts on the other side of the Riachuelo River. The bridge links the Avenida La Plata in the neighbourhood Island Maciel of Dock Sud with Avenida Almirante Brown in the La Boca neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.
