HUMAHUACA - March 2010
From Purmamarca we bought the ticket for Humahuaca. e decided to stay in Purmamarca first cause Purmamarca is at a lower altitude than Humahuaca. Purmamarca about 2.400 mt and Humahuaca almost 3.000. There are several buses. (mostly late) we took the 10.20 a.m. bus. Cost 8 pesos and it should take 50 minutes to get there. At 11.00 the bus had to stop next to Tilcara because of a strike. At 12.40 we arrived to Humahuaca. We found a Hostel (Hostel Humahuaca) Good rooms. Common bathrooms a bit dirty. Breakfast so so...much better and cheaper if you go to the Panaderia and eat over there ;o) With just 3 pesos we got a lot of stuff! Cost of the bed 40 pesos per night.
3 pesos and a lot of food at Panaderia. The people of the Panaderia are also very nice.
Humahuaca is very small village in the North of Argentina. It is a narrow mountain valley located in the province of Jujuy in northwest Argentina, 1500 km (932 mi) north of Buenos Aires Weather is hot and mostly very dry. Most o people that live there are public employees and souvenirs sellers. Don't miss the old railway the local market (not the touristic one) the Pena Blanca (but go over the top to discover the Cactus Valley)
Full of Artisan Shops (for tourists) Hundreds...they all have the same prices and same products...except 1 or 2...so..ask, ask, ask and compare. I guess there is a big producer who give all its stuff to all the sellers...for this reason all of them have the same products at the same price.

Humahuaca is a very quiet village where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the north Argentina. It's at 3.000 mt on the sea level and it's very dry so, consider that.
HUMAHUAKA OK:
Hostel Humahuaca, Pinocho (restaurant), Kulapanka(Restaurant), Panaderia, Landscape, People (not the commercial ones)
