Purmamarca & Salina Grande - February/March 2010
Purmamarca
February 28 - 5.20 p.m. we arrived to Purmamarca (meaning "Town of the Virgin Land" in Aimara language) is situated 3 kilometers east from National Route Nº 9 (65 km away from Capital City of Jujuy) . Touristic as well of course. 1 medialuna (a small croissant) was 1 pesos, in salta the same Medialuna cost was 0.65 pesos. Anyway the place is magic. Really beautiful We got a Guesthouse (it is in no guide but it's nice, anc cheap) double room with shared bathroom 70 pesos per night. Gps Point:S23 44.843 W65 29.943 We got our Diner at "Rincon" Live music that at the end was charged 10 pesos per each but it was not written outside! (SURPRISE!!) The food was ok. These is the square of the village where you can find an ATM machine (not the bank) a few bars and in the middle a lot of souvenirs sellers. The contrast of the colorful mountains is fantastic.

February 29 - We went to the Salina Grande with 2 Argentinean fantastic friends we knew in Purmamarca Gustavo and his great wife. Gustavo is a good photographer too :o) Usually you go next to the square where you can take a Remis between 08.00 and 10.30 (Cost 40 pesos per person) 2 hours drive + 45 minutes to take some pictures....Of course with our new Friends it was much better and relaxing :o))
The Salina Grande :o)
At 3.450 mt above sea level. To get there you should take the beautiful RN 52. The total surface of the Salinas Grandes is 212 Square Km. Its age is between 5 and 10 milion years old.There is also a Hotel in Salt but it didn't get the licence to work yet. Gps Coord: S23 35.793 W65 52.966
The Salt lake is wonderful but the way to get there is great as well. We went up till 4.200 mt and then "down" till the lake at 3.500 mt.......
At 17.50 we started the mini trekkint in Purmamarca. The landscape is fantastic. We also got the top of the hill at 2.610 mt where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama and a great relaxing atmosphere. Gps waypoint: S23 44.716 W65 30.835 -
PURMAMARCA OK:
The Guesthouse (Gps waypoint - S23 44.843 W65 29.943 ) , Landscape, Trekking, Artisanal Stuff (but all people sell the same thing. I guess there is a unique company that give the same stuff to sell to all the sellers)
SALTA KO
Very touristic, Altitud Restaurant in Tilcara, Prices, Food not very good.
